At Bantycock Quarry we extract gypsum that lies close to the surface. The gypsum is found in a number of beds (or seams) separated by a type of mudrock (referred to as interburden) and also covered by clay/mudrock (known as overburden) and soils. To be able to access the gypsum, we need to remove the soils, overburden and interburden.
2005-4-15 In the case of gypsum, the optimum conditions for isolating the hydration water are to evacuate the sample at low vacuum, followed by 2–10 min at high vacuum (better than 10 −3 mb) or not more than a couple of days at low vacuum (10 −2 –10 −3 mb) at room temperature. Hydration water can then be fully extracted by heating to 450 °C for 45 min.
2020-5-19 Microorganisms attach and form biofilms on the {011} planes of gypsum crystals; gypsum dissolves, and water extraction occurs. Based on the crystal structure of gypsum, the water of crystallization layer is exposed to the {011} planes, but not to the {010} planes.
2015-2-1 The extraction efficiency of calcium and iron from red gypsum was measured using 2 M H 2 SO 4, HCl, and HNO 3 at solution temperatures of 30 °C, 50 °C, and 70 °C. Different reaction times ranging from 5 min to 120 min were also investigated in order to maximize the extraction efficiency.
2012-9-10 Locals at Noorkhah say that extraction of gypsum takes place in Bagna and Salamabad as well. “Gypsum mines are owned by members of Jammu and Kashmir
Extraction/Mining USG. Extraction/Mining. USG is an integrated company consisting of mining operations, transportation, manufacturing and distribution. The following at the main raw materials we use in many of our products for the construction business. Plaster of Paris Gypsum: Plaster of Paris is de-hydrated gypsum.
Red gypsum can be considered as a long term storage of carbon dioxide through mineral carbonation. However, for the efficient carbonation, the calcium ions need to be extracted in the solution phase, followed by the carbonation reaction. Therefore, the extraction step is the key of successful mineral carbonation. In this study, solvent extraction of calcium and iron ions has been carried out
2015-11-23 opencast extraction is the only feasible method of working. The gypsum seams dip south-eastwards beneath younger cover rocks where opencast extraction remains feasible, providing the overburden to mineral ratio is within the prevailing technical and economic limits. 10.4 In contrast, the Tutbury gypsum normally comprises a single seam which is
2020-5-15 Complete extraction of Cr(VI) (≥99.8%) from gypsum solid waste was achieved by using HCl as mineralizer. Pilot experiments showed this method is practicable and beneficial. This work would inspire the recycling of gypsum waste containing other heavy metals. Notes. The authors declare no competing financial interest.
2001-8-11 Results show that there are no harmful impacts on the environment of the studied area associated with the extraction and quarrying of the gypsum deposits at the Maqna area. They also revealed that the gypsum can be quarried using a ripping technique, which does not create noise and/or vibration in the surrounding areas.

Abstract Dry rot fungi are a unique group of brown rot fungi, capable of decaying wood at a distance from soil and moisture sources. When degrading wood in the built environment, these fungi are typically observed in contact with calcium (Ca)-containing materials, but it is unclear how or if this association benefits the fungus. In this work, several wood-degrading fungi, including two dry rot

Based on what the authors aimed in this study, they should have also considered the “extraction of iron” in the Title and a description in the Abstract section. Only the extraction of calcium has been mentioned in the Abstract while the aims of this study are referred to both extraction of Ca and Fe from Red Gypsum.
The gypsum and hydrochloric acid formed were separated by filtration. The gypsum was washed with 100 grams of water. The wet cake contained 1.07 grams water per gram of dry cake. 50.5 grams of dry gypsum were recovered, suitable for fertilizer or construction products use. The hydrochloric acid was returned to the starting process. EXAMPLE 7
2001-8-11 The impacts of quarrying of the gypsum deposits on the environment at Maqna, Tabuk, were evaluated by intensive field studies including in situ testing, mapping and sampling of gypsum and well water. Field and laboratory tests were made to determine the engineering properties including tensile and compressive strengths, unit weight, fracture spacing and the rock quality designation (RQD) values.

2021-1-21 Gypsum is a non-metallic mineral, found in rock form. It is composed of 79.1% calcium sulphate and 20.9% water, by weight. Chemists call it Hydrous Calcium Sulphate, and as there is one molecule of calcium sulphate combined with two molecules of water. It has the chemical formula CaSO 4 2H 2 0. By volume this works out to nearly 50% water in
